Simulation of the Next Generation Rocket

The simulation shows that by adding the mass of a recovery system, and a better nose cone, the altitude can be increased by about 100 ft. over the performance of the basic two-can rocket.

With the greater mass the rocket accelerates slower, and flies slower, so that the drag forces are smaller. More of the rocket's energy is converted into momentum rather than lost to drag.
